I have been a Stay At Home Mum (SAHM) for almost 4 years now. It has been one of the most fulfilling journeys of my life, I would not trade it for anything. Last year I wrote a little bit on how I got here and how I am thriving as a SAHM. Since then not much has changed apart from the physical growth of myself and the children ofcourse ?????. However, I have been having this nagging feeling to reach out and form a sisterhood a movement for SAHM’s. And this month I stepped out in faith and started Integrated Living – SAHM.
Welcome to Integrated Living – SAHM. This is a movement of women who have made a decision willingly or forced by circumstances to stay home and bring up their children.
Let me introduce you to the term Integrated Living – SAHM. This term means that instead of trying to balance every aspect of your life as a stay at home mum – spiritual aspect, wife, mother, homemaker, friend, sister, daughter, expressions of talents and gifts etc; you integrate them all. You don’t balance them like juggling balls in the air which has you constantly tired, exhausted and with an aching back quite literally but integrate them all.
How you may ask?
1. First by acknowledging how mortal and finite you are. You are only human dear sister, you can only do so much without fainting and losing it all together
2. Secondly by sitting down and writing down what is important in the phase of your life right now. Because you have acknowledged point 1 above this should be easy
3. Thirdly the things you make a choice to concentrate on, start working out ways they can build into each other instead of being separate entities.
We will be learning more about the practical steps to achieve the above as we move along.
So welcome on board and let us learn together, let us journey together and let us become Integrated Living -SAHMs together.
At the moment, the movement is running as small groups of SAHM’s on whats-app where we are tackling the three steps above to become Integrated Living -SAHM’s. I am so excited to see what is happening as the women from all walks of life are discussing, sharing and reflecting on different topics we are studying for a period of 9-10 weeks. I look forward to see how this movement unfolds and grows, and most important the impact it has in the individual lives of the women involved as well as the ripple effects on their families and societies!
